So, democratic campaign fundraising numbers are starting to come in. The details remind me of a girl I dated once. She was technically my girlfriend but was still boinking her ex and just about anyone else that gave her a bit of attention. My ego never recovered. We’re in for one hell of a self-esteem problem America. As the NY Times notes:
For the first time since the Watergate-era adoption of public financing of presidential campaigns, all the top candidates are preparing to reject public money — and the spending limits that come with it — in favor of collecting as much as they can from private donors.
Great, they don’t need our money anymore. Makes you wonder why they need our vote.
In any case, Hillary is breaking records with “about three times as much as the previous record at this stage of a presidential race” (source: NYT). These are the numbers on what a few of the Satan’s lap-dogs have raised so far:
Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton: $26M
Former Senator John Edwards: $14M
Gov. Bill Richardson: $6M
Senator Christopher J. Dodd: $4M
Senator Joseph R. Biden: $3M
You’ll notice someone missing. The New York Times explains:
The campaign of Senator Barack Obama of Illinois, Mrs. Clinton’s biggest rival for Democratic donors, said it was not ready to disclose its results, suggesting he may have a big announcement in store. The leading Republican candidates declined to disclose their results as well.
So, Satan’s lap-dogs are bragging, but his guard-dogs are quiet. They must be up to something no good. Maybe their quietly reasserting their territory over the Lincoln monument, or maybe their just gnawing on the femurs of our unborn children.
